Greenhouses
Do I need to install a foundation before setting up the greenhouse?
If installing the greenhouse outdoors it must be anchored in some manner. Some customers attach the greenhouse to a patio/deck instead of pouring concrete footers. However, the manufacturer highly recommends to build your foundation down to the frost line in your area. Click here to view a detailed diagram demonstrating how to install the greenhouse foundation.
Do your greenhouses require professional installation?
Professional installation is not required. Some customers hire professionals for the foundation frame and install the greenhouse themselves. We may know of professionals in your area that have experience installing our greenhouses. Please e-mail us with your area code to see if we have a recommendation for your area.
How long will it take to assemble?
This depends on your experience and how many helpers you have. If the ground is already leveled and the concrete footers in place, it should take no more than a weekend.

What kind of flooring is recommended for the greenhouse?
There are different options for greenhouse flooring, such as wood, brick, tile, stone pavers, pea gravel or even pouring a full slab. There are pros and cons to each type of flooring depending on your location and intended use of the greenhouse. We recommend laying a brick floor on top of sand as this allows for water to drain. Can I overwinter tropical plants in my greenhouse?
This largely depends on where you are located. Your greenhouse can overwinter tender plants provided the proper climate is maintained. Customers who have sufficient southern exposure usually only need to lightly supplement with a small space heater and a humidifier on extreme weather days.
Other factors that come into play are the type of floor you have (some provide extra heat) and the amount of plants you have inside the greenhouse (a full green house will be 10 degrees warmer than a half-full one).
How will my greenhouse kit ship?
Greenhouses are shipped LTL (freight). Customers will be getting a call the week of delivery to make sure they will be there to receive the shipment. The shipping address must be accessible to a semi-truck. The driver will be using a pallet jack and lift-gate to slide the pallet off of the truck. They will require help from the customer to safely unload. We recommend having a friend present to help.
How long will it take to get my greenhouse?
The lead time for greenhouses changes often due to high demand. Currently, the warehouse is averaging 5-10 business days to ship out greenhouses if the model is in stock. However, if the greenhouse is on backorder, then it's possible it could take up to two months to receive your greenhouse. Please e-mail or text us with the model you're interested in and we will provide an estimated time of arrival.
Who makes these greenhouses?
Janssens of Belgium has been making high-end glass greenhouses for over 30 years. Since the introduction of the Victorian model, in 1999, they have become a leading supplier of this style of greenhouse in Europe. Exaco Trading Co are the exclusive importers of these greenhouses in the United States. Garden Luster is an authorized retailer of Exaco Trading Co.
Can I use my greenhouse as an additional living space?
These structures are designed to be a greenhouse first and foremost. As packaged, the greenhouse is not designed to be water/air tight. Greenhouse plants do benefit from a turn of air. You may need to do some extra sealing with silicone on the roof around the glass to achieve watertightness. The glass is single pane, so there is a good chance for condensation on the inside that might drip. We recommend any furniture be indoor/outdoor and that fine wood furniture/electronics be avoided or sufficiently protected. The roof windows do have auto openers, so there is always a chance with a summer rainstorm (with the temp above 70) that the windows could be open and it could rain in. You can switch to all manual openers if preferred. On sunny days, glass greenhouses can get warm very quickly. Depending on your climate, you will likely be fighting the heat in the summer. It has been done, but you will need to make customized adjustments such as extra sealing, climate control, window tinting and heating.
Can I order a custom sized greenhouse?
Yes. Please contact us with your specific dimensions and we can get started on getting you a quote for a custom greenhouse. Custom orders take around 4 months to arrive from Belgium. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to place a custom order.
